Bob Pentland has held key Manufacturing
leadership posts in several industries and in particular in the automotive and transportation segments. His Just-In-Time
Production education and exposure to Japanese manufacturing techniques goes back to the early 1980's and his intense
exposure to the teachings of former senior Toyota engineers took place in recent years during the same period when
Bill Moffitt was learning the methodology from the same experts.
Following a thirteen year career with Chrysler Corporation Bob successfully led several launches of World-Class
Manufacturing programs while holding the following posts:
- Operations Manager - Rockwell International
- Vice President - Manufacturing,
American Fibrit, Inc.
- Vice President - Operations, The
Jacobs Vehicle Equipment Co.
- President, The Jacobs Vehicle Equipment
Co.
- Vice President - Operations, Otis
Elevator Company
- Vice President - Operations, Kuhlman
Electric Corporation
This diverse and multi-product experience provides him with unique credentials with which to serve Moffitt Associates
clientele. He also brings to our client family considerable expertise in Policy Deployment, Quality Function Deployment,
and Total Quality Management, as well as superb qualifications to teach and show clients how to implement JIT/Lean
Production techniques and concepts. In each of these disciplines Bob was trained by highly qualified Japanese consultants
with whom he maintains an ongoing relationship.
In each of his last several line management posts he was responsible for labor negotiations which were characterized
by the emphasis on the non-traditional requirements brought about by World Class Manufacturing concepts. In several
instances he was responsible for the establishment of multi-skilled operator classifications, performance pay plans
and cross-functional team organizations.
During his tenure with Jacobs Bob unselfishly toured Danaher companies, extending his understanding and expertise
to those units, assisting with their change management efforts and further developing his consulting and instructional
skills. During this period he and Bill Moffitt traveled and worked together in a number of plant venues, and that
close working association later developed into a his affiliation with Moffitt Associates.
Bob holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology and Chemistry and an MBA with emphasis in Finance. He pursues
his consulting practice from his office in Indianapolis, Indiana, as Moffitt Associates, IN.
